Every person on this planet has white spots on their gums known as Candida Albicans. In a healthy person, this fungus is controlled by helpful bacteria that keep it at a low level. But certain products such as antibiotics or birth control actually lower the count of the friendly bacteria, which allows the Candida Albicans to grow.
Leukoplakia, a condition that means “white plaque,” also  is a cause of those white spots on your gums, and is commonly found on the inside of the cheek, on or under the tongue, below the lips, or even on the roof of your mouth. The spots could be small, or similar to the size of a quarter; although they are not cancerous, they could indeed be a warning sign of a pre-cancerous condition caused by frequent irritation. People who smoke are more likely to have leukoplakia because of the constant heat irritation in their mouth from the pipe or cigarette.

If you want to prevent having these white spots form on your gums and have a few hundred dollars stored away that you can spend on professional help, the best choice you can make is to have an in-office treatment session, especially if your teeth and/or gums are very sensitive.
