Should I Get Dental Insurance Or A Branded Dental Practice Plan
March 13, 2009
With increasing numbers of us becoming increasingly concerned with the way they look as well as the health of our teeth, it is no surprise to spend more on better teeth care products and solutions. Dental practices have noticed this trend and the rise in concern for teeth and oral health and have responded with dental payment plans. Many dentists now offer their own practice branded dental plans to make it easier for some people to pay for their dental treatments and appointments easily.
The problem with NHS dental practices is that many of them have no spaces for new patients and it is therefore difficult to register with an NHS dentist. Many NHS dental surgeries can’t take on new adult patients and limit the number of children taken on.
This has resulted in a large number private dental practices selling and encouraging new patients to sign up for ‘capitation’ dental plans, which help to spread the cost throughout the year. Branded dental plans are worthwhile if you have a good level of oral health because part of the process of getting a dental plan is an evaluation of the existing health of your mouth to work out how much to charge.
Basically if your teeth are terrible then you would be better off getting dental insurance, if you take care of your teeth and are fortunate enough to have celebrity teeth then a dental plan would be good for you.
Many dentists will tell you that one of the most regular questions that their patients ask them has to do with the effectiveness of an electric toothbrush. Advertised electric toothbrushes, including the Oral B Sonic Complete DLX, Oral B Triumph and Sonicare FlexCare Electric toothbrush are, after all, far more expensive than a normal toothbrush and come packed with a range of different features.
Researchers have found that electric toothbrushes are more effective and can get rid of more plaque and stains than a manual toothbrush over the same amount of brushing time. Those that are thinking about trying to get a practice branded dental plan then start looking into buying an electric toothbrush if your teeth are in a poor condition.
