Summary of the Madeira, Portugal Temperatures and Climate

Madeira is a group of islands south of mailand Portugal in the Atlantic Ocean. Because these islands are typified by their tall mountains the Madeira climate has great variablity. At sea level the weather can be warm and sunny on the same day that rain is falling higher up on the mountains. Madeira enjoys an abundance of flora and fauna taking advantage of the micro climates at different altitudes.

Madeira has warmer winters and cooler summers than the mainland Portugal climate. Winter temperatures in January and Febuary range between 13 and 19 degrees celcius. Rainfall levels are on average 48.7mms in January at Porto Santo and this falls to just 14mms by May.

The temperature in Porto Santo in summer time averages at between 17 and 25 degrees celcius in June, July and August. In the Autumn the climate in Porto Santo, Madeira is still warm with high temperatues falling from 25 to 21 degrees on average from September thru to November. Rainfall is low at 3.2mms in July and this increases 39.9mms in October with the highest level of 69.9mms falling in December.
